Reducing Bodyfat by RM
What is the right way of reducing body fat percentage for men? Some say more of strength training and little of cardio and others say more of cardio and little of strength training. I want to get in to some exercise program to reduce my BF% from 25% to less than 20%. I am confused on the...

Timex Bodylink vs Garmin Forerunner by Jim
I would appreciate any opinions from users of the Timex Bodylink or the Garmin Forerunner GPS units. I would like something to measure the distance travelled on streets so I can compare it to distances on the track or treadmill. Thanks, Jim

Rapid Weight Loss by [email protected]
Ok, this may sound vane and not worth your while, but here goes. I am in a 'biggest loser' contest at work. Whoever loses the highest % of body weight in 3 months. After two months, I've lost 18 lbs, but to win, I still need to lose a lot more, my guess is at least that much again. My stats: 40...

Is walking better than running? by Jacqui Dueck
Hello everyone, I am a fairly athletic person who has always been heavily involved in sports. Recently I have seriously injured my knee to the point where I can no longer run on it. So rather than not exercise at all, I wanted to assess some alternative options. I need a low impact exercise and...

what other excersies besides walking do you do? by big mike
Me, I do some curcuit training without weights at home. I use my body weight for resistance to do side lunges, squats, push ups, close grip push ups and crunches. I have a straight bar with a couple of weights that I use for bicep curls. I do this about 4 times a week.

Distance walking sandals? by Goldhammer
Hello! I go for 20k walks with a pack on, about twice per week. Presently I wear sandals without socks. That's how I prefer to do it. But there are limitations. I get blister formation and various other pains if I go more than 20 k in a single trip. I walk on bad road conditions: much of

Hi, I have just begun walking daily and I have two issues which I would need help with: 1) could someone please recommend good reasonably-priced walking shoes? I live in Florida so the weather is hot most of the year so I would need them well aerated and I have a small bone-spur so I would need...

Losing Weight After Dropping the Nicotine Habit by Aquatic DubMonkey
Hello all. I have a dilleme here that I need some advice on. It certainly isn't an uncommon one for people in my shoes, but it is a pesky one. Heres the deal. I quit smoking in early August after spending about three months on the Nicotine Patch system. (I haven't actually smoked a cigarette since...

Hazardous Walking by Jenny Lee
I've been walking 3 miles in the morning, about 1 mile is uphill (1 mile downhill and one level mile) which is a huge accomplishment for me since I started at 1/4 mile. Two times this week I've encountered dogs, one of the dogs was quite aggressive and (I do carry a stick) would have attacked me if...

Does any one have a hard time losing weight or have a hard time fighting off the cravings? Who is concerned about their weight and health like I am? I am 34 years old now, and in the past 10 years I have gone from 190 pounds to 260 pounds. That scared the crap out of me. I was a heavy smoker and...

Working the upper body while walking by Don
I am not sure if this will help others, but I have found a very simple inexpensive way to work the upper body while walking. I use a pair of leather work gloves and some rope about 7' in length. As I am walking, I do presses (overhead, incline, regular, decline, etc) and
