Follow up to OS map 5m contours by Mike Mason
I did email OS and this is the reply Dear Mike Thank you for your e-mail dated 7th May regarding contour intervals on our 1:25 000 scale maps. The standard contour interval on our OS Explorer maps is 5 metres, but in mountain and moorland areas, this is often extended to a 10 metre interval.

On OS Explorer map 444 several of the stream have comments beside them, for example at NC913218 it says 'Gold digging carried on along the banks of this stream in 1869'. How unusual is that? You don't get 'Fox's biscuits made here since 1853' on the map for Batley. And I bet it is fun keeping...
