(digital) camera care and protection on the hills by
padraig
I'm just about to equip myself with a digital camera... I'd appreciate
a bit of guidance or some thoughts about looking after this thing. Is
it correct for me to assume that I'll have to be a little/lot more
protective of my new toy (a G3) than I previously have been with SLRs?
How scared of rain...

Tenby / St.David's "must-see's" by
Anthony
As the Weather seems fairly mild, my wife & I are off to Pembrokeshire on
Friday night - one night in Tenby and one in St.Davids or Solva (haven't
booked yet). I was planning on either a couple of circular walks (such as
around St.Davids) or using some of the walkers Bus services along the
coastal...

TR Walking the Dragon (rambling, wordy) by
Fran
On the hill opposite my house is a dragon. It hides itself away in
summer, but in autumn and winter, when the larches have divested
themselves of their greenery, the dragon, picked out in the darker
green of what may be Sitka Spruce, is clearly visible.
Ever since the beast on the hill was...

South West Coast Path by
Christine
Hi,
I have just returned from 3 weeks holiday in Cornwall and spent almost
everyday walking different parts of the coast path as day walks. The problem
I found was apart from the Lizard and Land`s End areas, circular walks were
a pain to arrange. So mostly we retraced our steps which made the...

A new dig camera by
Robert Hill
Every couple of years/or when development has increased
enough, it's time for a new digital cam. Paul Saunders
mentioned the Canon EOS 300D which Jessops is selling for
£899 + EF-S-55M lens. In today's DT, Digital Depot has the
Olympus E 20 5 x mill pivels, plus W/con 08B lens, T/con 14B
lens and...

Anquet Maps: print to file by
John Lang Wilson
I've just upgraded my system to Win XP and a new printer, best thing is
a large hard drive so I now have all 1:50,000 maps North of the Humber
on my machine.
On my previous system I was able to print a map (limited to A4) to file
via the printer driver. My new printer doesn't allow his.

I suppose it's no worse than any other form of walking
by numbers.
Talking of which, I have recently had a brilliant business idea.

Heads up re Photoshop8 or CS as it is called by
david hill
I have taken delivery of this upgrade and I note from inspection that
the Exif data has slots for GPS. information.
Thus IF you had a camera that took note of GPS (Which camera?) and you
saved in RAW format files and downloaded same you could view this info.
So far I haven't sussed IF I can...

Hi all
I'm looking into buying some brasher hillmaster GTX boots, I was wondering
if the soles would wear out if I walked too much on concrete.

TR October Day 28 by
Paul Saunders
On the expedition weekend I realised that I hadn't photographed all the
main waterfalls in my local area, which seemed a logical thing to do
during the course of the month. It would be nice to produce a
collection of "October Waterfalls" pictures, twelve in all (ten at
Ystradfellte, plus nearby...

Hi All
Just back from Kilimanjaro (Rongai Route) and Tarangire Conservation Area.
Had a brilliant time, and can recommend the Treetops lodge in Tarangire for
those who like a bit of peace and quiet!
If anyone's interested, I've put up a load of photos at

TR: High Point of Georgia, USA by
Rob Milne
For something a little different. Had part of Friday of last week free, so
ascended the highest point in the state of Georgia, USA. Brasstown Bald
(that is the peaks name), is 4,784 ft, so about the same height as Ben
Nevis. Not bad for a southern US state. The summit has a fire tower,
viewing...

OT - Budget Colour Injet Printer Recommendation? by
ste ©
Hi there,
I'm looking to buy a new colour inkjet printer this week, does anyone have
any recommendations? I would love to buy the Epson 2100 (£520), as
discussed in other threads, but I just can't afford that at the moment, or
the Epson 950 (£250+) either. :-(
I'll be using the printer for...

TR Mull ~ Dun da Ghaoithe by
Graham Ingram
Took the 10 am ferry from Oban to Craignure this morning.( additional
sailing and last at this time till mid December ). The sun was out
and the wind light although there was a distinct feel of autumn in the
air. We went as foot passengers for £5.40 each return and the 45
minute crossing was a...
