"Base Camp" (Ludlow) - Gone away? by GSV Three Minds in a Can
I went looking for boots yesterday, and the place appears to have rolled up and blown away. Not terribly surprised - high prices, no mail order, and rarely anyone in there (even if it was adjacent to the Shropshire Way). They appear to still have a website, with directions how to get there, but if...

"Competition" - Where's Brian? by Brian
While storing some stuff up the loft, I found some old photographs which I must have taken many many years ago. But I don't know where it is! So, for a bit of a fun competition, who can name where I am? http://b_innes.tripod.com/whereami.html --

"Don't rely on Garmin" - Garmin's words! by Wasdale Walter
I bought in May a Garmin Legend C GPS unit. Very reliable it has been - so far. On Saturday I went over Grasmoor in pretty apalling weather, using the GPS in bad weather for the first time. It was pretty soon obvious that the unit was worse than useless. It kept losing reception, and it's...

"Easter Eigg" TR - very short by Hugh Spicer
Two friends and I spent a beautiful weekend on the island of Eigg (one of the small isles west of Mallaig). On Saturday we did a very quick ascent of An Sgurr. Sure its "only" 393 metres but the views from the summit (helped by unbroken sunshine) were really quite outstanding. Particularly the...

"Long Distance" walking on the Isle of Sky? by Robin
Hi there, fellow hikers! After my great experience last year, doing the West Highland Way, I'm looking for a similar "long distance" experience for my short holiday break this year. Now, after doing some research, I found out that there's some great walking on The Isle of Skye. But unfortunately...

"Magnetic" Mountains by Peter
You know what I mean (hopefully): those mountains - where by means of altered horizons and perspective etc - give one the impression of going uphill when in fact you are going downhill and vice versa... Can anyone supply me with a list and/or weblink to them? I have Googled - but found nothing...

"vacuum" flasks by Brian
I don't suppose any of you guys could recommend a decent brand of "vacuum" flask? My 5 month old "Aztec" 1 litre stainless steel flask is now no longer keeping things hot - when I pour in a hot drink, the outside wall of the flask gets hot a half hour later :-( Doesn't seem right to me... I did...
