An Amble from Amberley by sandy saunders
Not quite an amble, but a very pleasant 12 mile hike from just above Amberley, starting out on the South Downs Way. Was expecting a nice crisp morning but the ground was soft a little muddy, although there was the odd frost patch in the shade. Didn't worry about the mud though, the boots...

Marilyn status for Thorpe Fell top by Martin Richardson
There are rumblings about Thorpe Fell top being lower than the obelisk on Cracoe Fell! Anyone who has summit fever would surely have included the obelisk on their visit. If not (and you care about these things) you may well have to go back! -- Martin Richardson

Stereotyped again!! by bluelaura
Wow can't believe that I miss one word out and suddenly I'm illiterate!?! And yes it is a degree. I am only trying to see different people's views about what tourism is like in the area in addition to the research I have already undertaken. Thanks for your input anyway.

Hiking the Pennine by LLoyd
My wife and I are contemplating hiking the Pennine Way this summer. We would appreciate any tips and advice from experienced hikers. We hope to hike for 2 weeks, and anticipate camping much of the time to cut the costs. Any advice on campgrounds, decent paces to eat and occasionally hotel it would...

If anyone has walked this I'd be grateful for some advice on the route (planned in February) It runs from grid 440113 almost due East to The Rigg (476117) at S. end of Haweswater. It looks really interesting on Explorer OL5. What's it like on the ground. We would prefer not to have to rope. Not...

Pure soap for clothing care by P & H Macguire
I have been using Loft Tech Wash for garments, mainly Paramo, but am finding difficulty in obtaining the large, 1 litre, size, which I find to be the most economical. However, in Perth today, one shop which only had the small size, suggested that any "pure soap" product would do the same job. I...
