Rock Bottom by Surf McBrowse
"How has he been?". "Not very good Dr., he's still mumbling about surf and I think the twitching is getting worse. Did he live by the coast?". "No I don't think so, has he be taking all his medication?" "Yes, Dr., he seems to be ok with them now. Oh, we've been keeping his curtains drawn and...

How long to wait between a marathon and a 50k? by Doug Freese
Harold Buck wrote: Does it make sense to run the Marathon 5 weeks before the ultra, using the Marathon as the last really long run before tapering for the ultra? As long as you take your time and use it as a long run, it's a great idea. You could actually do it 3-5 weeks before. If you do it...

Speed and distance monitors by ejg

Does the speed and distance monitor work when just running around a track? It's a fair investment but I would like to better calculate my speed and distance. Is...

2 long runs on 1 day? by pd42
Sometimes I run to work and back home (2x11 mile). Can I expect an additional training effect of the 2nd run, because my body at PM is not yet fully recovered from the AM run (i.e. would it count as a 14 mile run or so?) Any thoughts appreciated.

San Diego Thanksgiving 5k runs by Marshal Lymer
There seems to be two San Diego Thanksgiving 5k runs. One sponsored by Albertsons/PureFitness and the other done by Father Joe Carroll. Anyone have any insight on which 5k run is the better one? Thanks.

Richmond Va. Marathon? by M. Chrisp
Anyone here running Richmond Va. Nov. 15th? I'll be there, my second marathon. I'm hoping to run a 3:30. (PB) Mark C -- "To describe the agony of a marathon to someone who's never run it is like trying to explain colour to someone who was born blind."

RUNNING AND SMOKING by [email protected]
I've been running regularly for six months now. Each evening I either go outside for a 30 min run or in the gym on the treadmill. The problem is I am also smoking like 3-4 cigarettes each day. I try to smoke them early in the morning so that it doesn't mess up with my lungs much around exercise...

He's keeping a 6:52 pace at the 10k split (sub 3 hours)! I hope he hangs in there. You can track him by searching for Lancelot Smith on the marathon tracker. Cheers, -- Donovan Rebbechi http://pegasus.rutgers.edu/~elflord/

global at 20 miles by Donovan Rebbechi
Global's dropped back , but is still on a 7:17 pace, at 2:25 at 20 miles. He only needs 8:42 minutes/mile to get his 3:20 BQ. I think he's still in there with a fighting chance at a 3:15 -- he needs an 7:54 pace to do this. Cheers, -- Donovan Rebbechi http://pegasus.rutgers.edu/~elflord/
