R:Help with Scottish hill walk by MP[_3_]
Considering this route in Glen Coe would appreciate opinions on how good bad or other thoughts on it. Maine reasons for considering it is travelling up there, access to the hill itself and not attempting anything overlie ambitious for my manageable joint problems, I know a bit of a tall order...

Carrick Way by Robert[_3_]
Has anyone walked any of the new Carrick Way in South Ayrshire? I ask to find out about the condition of the route, as I walked a few miles along the Barr to Girvan section earlier in the week. Paths were sometimes difficult to follow, and non existent in places, though it was quite well marked,...

Long distance walk with baby carriage by Christopher Loffredo
We'd like to do a long-distance walk with our 7 month old using a baby carriage (she's too young for a baby rucksack and a front carrier would be too hard on our backs), preferably in Scotland or Wales. We're experienced and equipped walkers and wild is a plus, but baby logistics and safety...

Scotish Place Names by [email protected]
When in Wales I have a reference book that explains the pronunciation of Welch place names but I have never found an equivalent that explains how to pronounce Scotish mountain/loch names. Does anyone know of one? -- Dystokia

Sign by Mike Mason
Just finished picking off Deweys near Corris in North Wales. Saw a sign on a gate post, which I haven't seen before. It was a green walking man with what looked like a red heart on top of him. Anyone know what it means please. Mike

West Highland Way - Wild Camping + Food by Jim
Wild camp in the forest near Drymen (NS487895) space for two tents (we squeezed in three) You would find plenty of places at the north Loch Lomond stretch. Ba bridge is a good spot (though absolute midge hell in August) I think Beinglas Farm sells gas. Green Welly in Tyndrum definitely

Exposed walking or scrambling routes in Brecon Beacons ? by RustyCrampon
I've recently started walking in the Brecon Beacons, because they are a lot closer to my house than Snowdonia or the Scottish Highlands, where I usually go. I'm finding the Beacons are a little lacking in the excitement department. I haven't yet found any exposed walking or...

Weather forecasts by Tim W[_2_]
There has been a five day forecast for many years. They used to say that you would never be able to make good forecasts much beyond a few days because of the maths of random systems, it meant that even five days was sometimes very unpredictable. A bit suprised to find a ten day forecast he...

Chrome Hill by Gordon H[_3_]
On a short but unpleasant walk from Earl Sterndale, the relentless hailstones laid a mantle of white over Chrome Hill as we returned to the cars and the rain stopped for the first time today. There were tiny figures on the summit, but it wasn't our party... Due to the weather, which made my...

What would you have done by Mike Mason
Went down into North Wales yesterday to 'tick' Moel Cae-Howel and Rhiwaedog-uwch. Probabley not a good choice of hills. A foot of snow over Berwyn Heather equals knee to waist deep ploughing. And now to the subject. On the way off Moel Cae-Howel I found a very small lamb, probably new born....

Cairns by Graham Drabble
Hi, I remember seeing discussion of an old code / document (I think from Scotland) that was influential in the setting up of the anti-cairn / anti-path movement. However I can't remember what it was and Google's not helping. Any guesses? -- Graham Drabble
