How many calories do you eat a day and HOW? by Amie
I eat around 3K calories a day and am having trouble keeping up sometimes. What foods does everyone eat that are somewhat high calorie but nutrient dense and supportive to a traithlon training plan? Thanks, Amie

Training on a recumbent? by Alan Walker
How well would training on a recumbent cross-over to a regular bike (for triathlon)? I design software for a living and like to do Ironman triathlons. So, I was thinking of getting a second-hand recumbent and putting it on a trainer. Next, fabricate a keyboard and monitor that I can use while...

Pirassununga half-iron triathlon by Amie
I'm looking at doing a half-iron at the end of November in Pirassununga, Brazil, and am wondering if anyone has done this or knows about it. The information for this year's race hasn't been posted yet, I believe it's quite hot, humid, and hilly, but any other info would help (I don't speak...

Speeding up the metabolism by Amie
I'm wondering how long it takes to speed up one's metabolism via eating more if it has been slowed down by over-dieting, etc. I heard metabolic changes can take two weeks or more to take effect, but wondered what people's experiences were.

Recommended bike by Adrian
Dear All, I'm a total newcomer to Triathlon (but a keen runner and MTBer). I'm looking for a road bike suitable for triathlon use and am considering a Merida 903 - =A3650 from wiggle.co.uk. Would this bike be a good choice, or has anyone got any better suggestions (around this sort of price,...

Tri in 2 weeks by John
I am trying to do my first Triathlon in two weeks. I haven't been training and found out I just got off the waitlist. I am trying to trian 2 hours a day with my HR 150-190 constant. Is this too much. And what would you recommend to get in shape as fast as possible. I am willing to do whatever...

saying hi... by Devon R Lougheed
Hi there, I'm Devon, a tri newbie with one give-it-a-tri under my belt, and my first sprint distance coming up in two weekends in Toronto. I've been lurking for a few weeks, and thought I'd take the plunge into conversation! Like most newbies, my run is the strongest, my bike is about average,...

Ironman Registration by Harold Buck
When you register for the next year's race at the race site on the day after the race (e.g., Ironman Wisconsin), can you sign up a friend, or do they have to physically be there to sign up? --Harold Buck "I used to rock and roll all night, and party every day. Then it was every other day. . . ."

NYC Triathlon: Wind ? by Rollins
I'll be competing in the NYC Triathlon on July 10th. This will be my first visit to NYC. I'm hoping some of you here are from NYC or are familiar with the course. I'm looking for advise on the course or hints regarding T1 and T2 navigation. Also, as you know the bike portion is along the Henry...

Marathon Listings by Billy Boone
I've tried googling several word combinations ... and haven't found anything - but I was after a site (if one exist) that has a listing of available marathons (may not be just one). With tris - there are several such kind of sites (trifind.com, www.usatriathlon.org). Appreciate any...

How to convert rd bike (cheap) by emily
I did my first race this past weekend and realized it would be very nice to attempt to convert my entry level road bike (specialized allez) to a bit more of a tri position. I need to do it on the cheap. My stem is angled slightly up, I realize it would help to switch to a flat one. Unfortunately...

brakes for Nimble Crosswinds. cork by Brian Drake
A buddy let me borry his Crosswinds for IM Germany. When I took the bike into the shop to get it tuned up before I leave the states, the shop told me I had to buy 'cork' brakes or the pads I had on the bike (brand new) would overheat and thus shred the carbon wheels, potentially causing the wheels...

Tri Storytelling by Wendy
There's a storytelling guild in my department, and I was thinking about how to talk about doing a triathlon in a way that would be interesting to people who were not part of the sport. For example, a race report that talked about course details, how many people were drafting on the bike, etc.,...
