Race report: Kilimanjaro 2010 by Sericinus hunter[_2_]
Well organized race. One of the water stations was equipped with constantly running shower. People complained about the weather but it was fine for me, not very hot, not humid at all. Beautiful view of Mt. Kilimanjaro, local people cheering, t-shirts and medals for all participants, first beer...

Is walking a waste of time as far as exercise? by [email protected]
Does walking stress the cardio system enough to be of any real benefit? Or do short runs of 15 min's do more in that respect?

Another shoe question by Patrick[_3_]
Hi all, Shoes seem to be a hot topic, so; Would it be okay to run in two separate style/brands of shoes? The reason I'm asking is I run at work during my lunch hour. I have also started running at home on weekends and have been thinking about morning runs during the week sometimes. I would...

Achilles fixes? by Patrick[_3_]
Hi All, Getting ready to do my first ever race and my right achilles tendon seems to have a little tendinitis going on. I think I might have over done it on some speed work in the previous weeks. Not to many speed work days, but I think to fast for what my body was ready for. Anyhow, I have...

winter stamina by outsideinmi
here in northern michigan a morning run in june/july/august is usually in the 58-64 degree range which is perfect for me. Not too hot, not too cold. I hit my high running mileage in these months. Fall, too busy coaching. Spring too slushy. Winter, xc skiing only. JKal. "pithydoug"...

Dot must be excited ... mens 50k classic by Dot[_5_]
Just in case anyone else is as confused as this thread sounded. Women's 30k classic was yesterday (Saturday). Kikkan Randall came in 24th, and Holly Brooks came in 36th. http://tinyurl.com/y9zmeve Kikkan's strength is sprint freestyle, and this was the first she raced 30k in international race....

Is Jacques Rogge a racist? by Arnold
Remember how Rogge complained at the Beijing Games about how Usain Bolt celebrated in the 100M before he crossed the finish line? Well I have seen several cross-country skiers during these games celebrate before they crossed the finish line. If you don't believe me, here's one report of...

Is Jacques Rogge a racist? by [email protected]
While I wouldn't be surprised if Rogge is a racist, I think your comparison needs better evidence to make it stick. Bolt's celebration at Beijing was slapping his own chest before the finish line. Rogge called Bolt's action disrespectful. And it was, whether Bolt intended it or was just being...

Race Report: AZ Senior Olympics 5K by Michelle
The race went off quite well, except for the fact that it was 3.35 miles long instead of 5K. *Three Garmin GPS devices measured it at 3.35 miles. The course was supposed to be three out and back loops on a half-mile road, plus a .1 mile stretch on an intersecting road, within a city park. The...
