Scottish mountains - how on earth can anyone pronounce them? by Peewiglet
I've been poring over the map of Scotland, but no sooner to I begin to develop an idea of where I might like to walk than I forget where it was, because I can't begin to pronounce about 95% of the place names. Is it all a malignant plot to keep nesh Southerners out? How on earth does anyone ever...

Fisherfield by Richard Smith
If anyone's still around on this newsgroup, perhaps they can offer some advice? I'm thinking of doing the Fisherfield Five (or Six) next week and am planning to take three days over it, wild camping two nights. A few years ago I'd have probably done it as a long day from Shenavall Bothy, but...

The Minigaig in one day? by Adam Lea[_2_]
Hi. I'm off on a walking/cycling holiday in Aviemore towards the end of June, and am in the process of looking at full day walks which may be borderline feasible, and explore areas that are inaccessible without a lot of effort. A thought flashed through my mind about the Minigaig. There is an...

Merry Christmas by Graham Seed[_3_]
If nobody answers this then I'll turn off the lights. I see there have been various recent bits of spam and an attempted troll by Angus, but very little else. Seasons Greetings to anyone lurking, I hope you manage a decent walk over Christmas. Graham

Whinlatter: parking: Revelin Moss by Allan[_3_]
Just been up to Whinlatter (had a soggy, misty introduction to the NW Fells bagging Grizedale Pike and Hopegill Head). I was going to park at Hobcarton but the parking and access routes seem to be closed due to forestry work (this may also affect the cyclists C2C). I went into Whinlatter...

Glue or Sealant for Soles of Boots and Shoes by john west
It seems to me durability of soles and heels for Shoes and Boots these days just gets less and less. A while ago when the Woolworths shops were in business I could get rubber corners to stick on to the heels, which preserved the life span considerably. I have recently bought a rubbery glue...

Trail shoes by Syke[_2_]
I have a pair of Trezeta trail shoes (NEWTRAIL) which are now past it but have given very good service, but like many things today, replacement is not so simple. Several articles I have read recently suggest that brands which in the past, like these, have been made in Italy, are now being made...

Garmin GPS 12 by Rooney
Anyone want one? I haven't used it for years - no need, with smartphones these days. But it may be useful for someone who doesn't have a smartphone. It's in perfect working order but probably needs a software update (for which you'd need to get a cable to connect it to your computer).
