Default goggle advice wanted

For pool (and occasional river) swimming, should I wear tinted or clear
goggles?
I have bad eyesight, but don't want to invest in prescription ones just yet,
and am wondering if one would be better then the other.

Tinted goggles are not needed indoors. They are a big help outdoors in
bright sun.

Check out optical correction goggles from Speedo (and possibly others).
They are not prescription goggles but they do come in generic diopter
corrections and they make a huge difference if you are near-sighted. If you
have your eye-glasses prescription, then you can select the appropriate
level of correction. They may be less helpful if you have a significant
astigmatism.

The cost is not excessive - generally $19 to $25US.
Good luck! -Greg
