He hardly spoiled anything. The D's should call this guy the Excuser because
he gave them an excuse for a loss they deserved. I know many who voted for
Nader none of who would have voted for Gore under any circumstances.

Can't the D's get it through their heads that guys like Kerry and Gore just
aren't attractive to folks outside of the large cities?

Ditto. I voted for Nader in the last election because Gore didn't seem
to offer much __AND__ neither were the democrats.

I think after seeing what bush with a republican congress has done for
the last 3 + years Nader might not get as many votes as he did last time.

I voted for Nader, I still believe in supporting a 3rd party, but I am
voting for the canidate with the best chance to depose the bush regime.

ABB ( anybody but bush.....FIRST )

Actually, it would have only taken a tiny percentage of Nader voters to
vote for Gore (or a tiny percent more for Gore than for Bush) to swing
FL and NH, and hence the electoral college, in Gore's favor.

So he was undoubtedly a spoiler.

Here is a VERY good article on this whole matter including Nader's hate
based religious approach to things.

http://www.counterpunch.org/jackson02232004.html

A quote from this article concerning the numbers is below.

*****************
He remains in total denial about his contribution to the election of George
W. Bush and still insists his deflection of votes in New Hampshire and
Florida made no difference in the outcome of the election. This is lunacy.
Bush won Florida by 537 votes; Ralph Nader got 97,488 votes in Florida.
Nader says Libertarians, the Socialist Workers Party and Pat Buchanan got
votes in Flordia too, so his deflection of those 97,488 votes didn't matter.
But the Libertarians, the SWP voters, and the people who meant to vote for
Buchanan wouldn't have voted for Gore anyway, and their total is a fraction
of what Nader had. Every study done since that election shows that most of
the votes cast for Nader would have gone to Gore or they wouldn't have been
cast at all.

Howard Dean failed Howard Dean.

However, given that Nader is choosing to run knowing that he will
inadvertantly contribute towards empowering the bush regime I.....and I
suspect others....will not be contributing to the Green party whereas we
might of otherwise.

What will happen is he'll force the D candidate to "go left" to try
and retain a few of those Naderites. This of course will hurt the D
candidate, because presidential elections are won by racing towards
the center.

This whole thing reads like a bad dream for the Democrats. Nader has sort
of agreed not to criticize the democrats. But would that help them? If he
just inflames the bush haters, that would effectively remove that vote from
the democrats.

Nader is like a turd in the puch bowl. Gauranteed to spoil the party.
