Default Proform 485E Elliptical Trainer Tension Problem

hi, ya'll. just thought i'd share my experience resolving a tension
problem with proform 485e elliptical trainer. the tension got very
tight after about one year of use. the lowest setting was fine for
me, but a little too much tension for my wife.

after basically dismantling the thing, i finally found that the inner
belt can be adjusted by simply removing the round "wheel" cover on the
right side of the unit (as you stand on the unit to use it or,
alternatively, as you stand behind the unit and look toward the front
of the unit) and then adjusting the belt via a very simple latch
mechanism.

lift the latch up to allow the "belt" to slide through and then clamp
it down when the belt is set correctly. hiking gear and many seat
belts employ this kind of latch.

btw, the proform is very good for its intended purpose. no, it isn't
a professional level unit. even so, you can get good home workouts on
it. a gym i belong to uses them for public use and they are pretty
beat up. they aren't designed for that kind of use.

also, anybody looking to charge up their workouts and get extra energy
and lose those extra lbs... try the zone diet. it is the ultimate
moderate diet.

i've lost two inches off the waist in the last 3 months and i've only
lost 2-3 total lbs. i've been playing basketball three times a week
and i have really good energy. however, when i play b-ball, i have to
eat extra carbs 20-30 minutes before playing or i get tired more
quickly.
