Default exercise bike calorie counter

I have just bought the York 2700 exercise bike. Its great but the calorie
counter sucks. It only counts at each revolution, no matter the difficulty
setting... so how am I to know if the 300 calories I just burned at setting
5 (out of 8) isnt 500...or 200 ....whats the point if not accurate.
